Policy Introduction

Norwegian authorities allow tourists to fly drones under Civil Aviation Authority of Norway (Luftfartstilsynet) regulations. The CAA of Norway has issued a series of regulations for drone flight operations. Some highlights of these regulations are as follows:

Fly under the CAA of Norway ’s altitude limit of 120 m

Stay 5 km away from aircraft, airports, and airfields

Operators must keep aircraft within their line of sight while flying

Respect image and privacy rights

Check the local aviation authority's website and review all relevant rules and regulations before flying

Check for local no-fly zones before flying

Steps to follow as a new drone pilot

  • Do not fly within 50 m of other people, vehicles or buildings that are not under the operator or aircraft manager’s control.
  • All flights must be carried out in a considerate manner so that aircraft, people, birds, animals, and property are not exposed to damage and the general populace is not inconvenienced in any way.
  • Do not fly over festivals, military facilities, sporting events, or other large public gatherings.

Carry-on BaggageEach passenger can carry no more than 20 detached batteries on board. Attached batteries can be carried on board.
Checked-in BaggageDetached batteries cannot be checked in. Equipment with small attached batteries can be checked in.
Common EquipmentMavic Series, Phantom Series, Spark, Osmo Series, product accessories.

Medium Batteries

Battery Energy100-160 Wh
Carry-on BaggageEach passenger can carry no more than 2 detached batteries on board. Attached batteries can be carried on board.

Common EquipmentCertain Inspire and Matrice aircraft.
