Policy Introduction

Singaporean authorities allow pilots to fly drones in compliance with Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) regulations. The CAAS has issued a series of regulations for drone flight operations, and some highlights of these regulations are listed below.

Always fly below the CAAS’s altitude limit (60 m)

Always maintain visual contact with your drone

Do not drop items from your drone

Do not fly within 5 km of an airport

Do not fly above populated areas

Always check the CAAS website for updates and information before flying

Steps to follow as a new drone pilot

  • Stay away from sensitive buildings, infrastructure, and facilities.
  • Check GEO zone for your local area before each flight.
  • Do not fly at night, in poor weather conditions, or when visibility is limited.
  • Do not attach any item to your drone, unless they are manufactured to be used together.
  • Do not use your drone to carry explosive or hazardous materials.
  • Do not fly drones that weigh more than 7 kg. (All DJI drones are under 7 kg.)
  • Do not interfere with emergency service providers.

Carry-on BaggageEach passenger can carry no more than 20 detached batteries on board. Attached batteries can be carried on board.
Checked-in BaggageDetached batteries cannot be checked in. Equipment with small attached batteries can be checked in.
